Meet the Musicians
Turkuaz is a rock band at its core that blends soulful sounds with potent funk grooves. Since hitting the road in 2012, Turkuaz have released a handful of albums, canvassed the US more times over, and continue to gather devoted listeners along the way. A quickly addictive pulse coupled with a reputation for their trademark “Powerfunk” sound has earned steadily growing attention across the nation. Just over the past two years, the band has made impactful appearances at Bonnaroo, Red Rocks, Lock’n, Mountain Jam, and have been filling rooms coast to coast from Terminal 5 in New York to The Fillmore in San Francisco.
“No guitarist was more integral to Paul McCartney’s post Beatles career than Denny Laine.”
At the height of the British Invasion, Denny Laine was one of the most recognizable voices on the music scene. As the lead singer of the Moody Blues’ first and only number one hit, “Go Now,” a worldwide multi-million seller, his soulful lead vocal performance, coupled with Mike Pinder’s piano, has become a classic. Denny left the Moody Blues and formed The Electric String Band, writing the hit “Say You Don’t Mind,” and opened for Jimi Hendrix in London. Denny joined Balls and Ginger Bakers Air Force, singing lead on the memorable “Man Of Constant Sorrow.” In 1971, he co-founded Wings with Paul McCartney and together they dominated the airwaves during the 1970’s. After Wings ended, Denny went on to a successful solo career that continues to this day. In April 2018, Denny was honored with the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of The Moody Blues.
